The Bremerton Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced the results of the 61st annual American Financial Solutions Armed Forces Day Parade May 16.

The Bremerton Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced the results of the 61st annual American Financial Solutions Armed Forces Day Parade May 16.

This year’s parade featured 150 entries. The Washington State Gold Star Mothers were recognized with the People’s Choice Award for their moving tribute. This was the first time the Gold Star Mothers have participated in the Armed Forces Day Parade.

Parade winners may pick up their awards at the Bremerton Area Chamber of Commerce, 286 Fourth St., Bremerton or contact the Chamber at (360) 479-3579 or chamber@bremertonchamber.org to make other arrangements.

2. Grand Marshal’s Award (Best Veteran’s Unit) — Vietnam Era River Boat Patrol — Gamewardens of Vietnam

3. Mayor’s Award (Best Towed Display) — “Torpedo Town USA” Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport

4. Festival Award (Judges’ Choice) — Bremerton High School – all entries

5. People’s Award (Crowd Favorite) — Washington State Gold Star Mothers

6. Freedom Award (Best Military Unit-Active or Reserve) — Marine Corps Security Force Honor Platoon and Bearcat Security Team

7. High School Bands (AAAA) — First Place: South Kitsap High School; Second Place: Bremerton High School

8. High School Bands (AAA) — First Place: Olympic High School

9. High School Bands (AA) — First Place: Kingston High School; Second Place: Klahowya Secondary School
