Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Corey Joseph Phillips Wednesday, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for arson, domestic violence in the second degree and for taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission.
Bremerton police patrols assisted sheriff’s deputies in Phillips’ apprehension. Phillips, 31, was found inside a residence on Montgomery Avenue in Bremerton, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. Phillips was arrested at 4:25 p.m. when he fled out the back door into the custody of officers setting containment.
Sheriff’s detectives and patrol deputies had been searching for Phillips since April 9, when he was suspected of stealing his former girlfriend’s vehicle and then setting it on fire, according to KCSO. The vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was later found destroyed by fire in the 1900 block of Fuson Road NE in East Bremerton. Witnesses reported a male matching Phillips’ appearance leaving the scene. Phillips also allegedly threatened to torch the victim’s house.
Phillips was booked into the Kitsap County Jail on the warrant of arrest. His bail was set at $100,000.
