Arts Walk re-emerges in downtown Poulsbo next week

Back after an eight year hiatus, the Poulsbo Art Walk re-emerges next week for an evening of local arts in downtown Poulsbo.

The three-hour event, promoted as being as short and intense as the life of a dragonfly, runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 25.

Dragonflies are the theme of the local arts event’s “Walk to Win,” where visitors to participating downtown businesses hunt for, and write down, the names of dragonflies.

Winners of the “Walk to Win” contest will receive gift certificates to downtown businesses in increments of $25, $50 and $100.

The art on display will come in a variety of forms, from the healing arts, to the food arts to music.

“It doesn’t just have to be visual arts,” said Anita Albala, manager of the Verksted Gallery. In all, 30 downtown businesses will participate in the Art Walk, Albala said.

The last time the Art Walk was held was 2001, Alabala said. Is three hours enough after eight years?

“No, it isn’t,” she said.

At least five different musical acts are expected to perform, including The Tahoma Voices Chorale, Valerie Markell, Stella Lovina and other local acts.
