POULSBO — Five teen-agers walked away from a crash on Noll Road on Feb. 26, though three are reportedly being treated for minor injuries.
The driver told Poulsbo Deputy Police Chief John Halsted at the scene that he and his four passengers are students at North Kitsap High School, according to Poulsbo Deputy Police Chief John Halsted.
One teen boy possibly suffered a broken arm. Halsted said he was expected to be transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. The driver said he and another passenger helped the others out of the vehicle, which went off the road, crashed into a tree and came to rest on its right side.
A passing driver called 911 at 3:55 p.m. after seeing the red SUV fail to safely negotiate the curve on Noll Road. The speed limit at the curve is posted at 15 miles per hour. The driver said he was driving approximately 40 mph. The crash occurred at a 90-degree curve on Noll Road where it meets Tallagson Lane.
Halsted said there have been approximately 20 crashes at the curve in the last 20 years. “It’s not a dangerous corner, but it is if you are going too fast,” Halsted said.
Halsted said Poulsbo Fire emergency personnel arrived quickly at the scene. North Kitsap High School Principal Judson Miller also went to the scene.
