SUQUAMISH — A body found on a beach in Suquamish Saturday has been identified as a 42-year-old Bainbridge Island woman.

Kitsap County Coroner Greg Sandstrom said Monday his office identified the body as Elizabeth Kaltreider. Her next of kin have been notified.

Kaltreider’s body was reported at 2:10 p.m. Saturday by a boater fishing near the Agate Pass Bridge, according to a statement from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s office, which is leading the investigation.

Bainbridge Police, Suquamish Police and sheriff’s deputies responded to the beach, just north of the bridge. Kaltreider’s purse was found on the beach near her body.

Kaltreider was last seen at the nearby Suquamish Clearwater Casino early Saturday morning, according to the sheriff’s statement.

Bainbridge Police Cmdr. Sue Shultz said a family member on Bainbridge reported Kaltreider missing early Saturday afternoon, shortly before her body was found. The family member had last heard from Kaltreider at about 2:30 a.m., Shultz said.

Sandstrom said the Coroner’s Office determined Kaltreider died from saltwater drowning at about 3 a.m. on Saturday. An autopsy was performed Monday morning.

No signs of obvious trauma or injury were found. Toxicology tests are being performed but results will take several weeks, according to the sheriff’s statement.
