PORT ANGELES – First Federal Community Foundation presented a check for $100,000 to the Kitsap Regional Library Foundation to provide site acquisition funds for the new Central Kitsap library facility in Silverdale. The Kitsap Regional Library Foundation successfully raised the full $850,000 needed to purchase the approximately 1.3-acre site at Bucklin Hill Road and Blaine Avenue and closed the sale on Nov. 25.
“The new Central Kitsap library in Silverdale will be a true community center, and we are delighted to participate in its creation,” said Karen McCormick, executive director of the First Federal Community Foundation, in a press statement.
The proposed new facility, at an estimated 10,000 square feet, will double the size of the current library campus in Silverdale. The building will complement its natural environment along the Clear Creek Trail, and the library’s programming will reflect a dynamic integration with the community it serves.
“We so appreciate First Federal for being the first local business to step up and support the long-held dream of a new library for Central Kitsap,” said Jamie Forsyth, executive director of the Kitsap Regional Library Foundation. “Because of this grant and a generous donor, we have now purchased an amazing site alongside the Clear Creek trail from Dyes Inlet.”
