A last-minute flurry of donations put Bellringer up and over its ambitious goal of raising $35,000 to help the community’s less fortunate.

Overall, donations totaled $37,156.50 in the six-week campaign. The money raised has already benefitted those for whom it was intended, according to John Macdonald, one of the many volunteers who works to pull off this fete every year.

This year’s efforts came to fruition on Dec. 21, when 30 members of the Poulsbo Noon Lions Club purchased goods to fill 105 food baskets at the Poulsbo Albertsons, Central Market and the Poulsbo Red Apple, Macdonald said.

The food baskets were distributed before Christmas.

North Kitsap Fishline in Poulsbo and the ShareNet food bank in Kingston provided lists of families in need.
