TACOMA – Poulsbo City Councilwoman Linda Berry-Maraist has been appointed to a full full term on the Puget Sound Partnership’s Ecosystem Coordination Board.

The appointment was made by the Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council. The Puget Sound Partnership was established as a state agency by the 2007 Legislature and the governor to develop and implement an action agenda for restoring the health of Puget Sound by 2020. The Partnership is guided by the Leadership Council, the decision-making body for the Partnership consisting of seven members committed to the environmental and economic prosperity of Puget Sound. The council relies on the Ecosystem Coordination Board to provide policy recommendations that achieve the goals set forth in the Puget Sound Action Agenda.

Berry-Maraist has experience in balancing shoreline and upland residential and commercial development with habitat and water quality protection. She is an architect by profession. She originally was appointed to the board to complete the term vacated by Kitsap County Commissioner Steve Bauer in 2010.

Other appointments to the Ecosystem Coordination Board: People for Puget Sound Executive Director Tom Bancroft, Shoreline Deputy Mayor Will Hall, and Port of Everett Commissioner Mark Wolken.

“This board is key to the success of the Partnership,” Puget Sound Partnership Executive Director Gerry O’Keefe said in a press release Thursday. “It is the only board in the region where representatives of so many diverse interests sit around the same table to help prioritize and coordinate actions that restore the health of Puget Sound.”

Leadership Council chairwoman Martha Kongsgaard added, “These individuals bring a new level of experience and understanding of Puget Sound, helping us connect and advance the economic, environmental and public health of the Puget Sound region,” “I look forward to working with them to restore the Sound.”
