The Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce will be honoring local businesses that were voted “Best of South Kitsap” at its after-hours event tomorrow evening.

The awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with the chamber’s annual business showcase platform, designed to raise the city’s business and tourism visibility.

The showcase, scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. on May 20 at the SK8Town Event Center, is being held for the second year in the evening hours in hopes of greater public participation.

“We’ve been trying to get more people involved in the business showcase,” said Executive Director Coreen Haydock-Johnson. “A lot of the interaction will be business to business and networking, but we also want to let the public know what kinds of goods and services are available. There are a lot of businesses that people don’t know about, because they are located in less-convenient locations.”

Sk8Town is located at 1501 SE Piperberry Way and there is no cost for the event.
