The Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce announced April 3 that CEO Stefan Goldby is stepping down, citing family reasons.

The chamber’s executive committee will be managing the day-to-day operations, and the chamber anticipates a “thorough and transparent search process” in the next several months to select a new CEO.

“We understand the impact this transition may have on our membership and community, and we want to assure you that the chamber remains committed to its mission and goals. We are actively working to ensure continuity of leadership and operations during this transition period,” the BICC wrote in a statement.

Goldby moved to Bainbridge with his family in 2015 and joined the chamber as its CEO in 2021. He brought three decades of business acumen to the role, in particular for Pegasus Coffee House, BI Rowing and The Tyler Moniz Project. He also helped motivate the Bainbridge Strong economic recovery campaign and launch the online Bainbridge General Store.

The organization wears many hats, but the chamber’s primary role is as an association of local businesses that aims to support, advocate for and expand the local economy.
