BI Good Samaritan has car stolen

Kitsap County Superior Court cases

A Good Samaritan checking to see if everyone was OK after witnessing a single-car rollover had her car stolen by one of the occupants, who then went on to crash her car.

A 49-year-old Port Orchard man was in Kitsap County Superior Court Oct. 28 charged with motor vehicle theft and reckless driving. Bail was $50,000. He faces 11 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.

Court papers say Bainbridge Island police responded to a single-car rollover Oct. 27 at 8:55 p.m. at Sportsman Club Road and Highway 305.

The driver of another vehicle, a juvenile woman, stopped to check on the passengers. A man extricated himself from the accident car, and told the young woman he needed her car. He got into her car and drove away. The stolen car was then seen going over 90 mph on dark, wet roads, and it later crashed. The man was found a few hours later near the crash site. He was exhausted and had scratches all over him.

Knife threat

A 31-year-old Poulsbo man was in Superior Court Oct. 28 arrested on four charges.

He was charged with second degree assault with a deadly weapon (maximum 10 years in prison/$20,000 fine); third-degree assault of an officer (5 years/$10,000); and fourth-degree assault and interfering with reporting of domestic violence (each 1 year/$5,000).

Bail was $66,000.

Court records show Kitsap deputies at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26 went to South Keyport Road NE. The caller said she and her disabled mom were pushed to the ground. The victim called again and said the suspect was running at her mother with a knife. Earlier the man poured a beer on his wife as they were driving home and verbally berating her. The mom wanted to call 911, but the suspect took the cell phone from her and threw it.

When deputies arrived he refused to comply to directions. He walked away, and they grabbed him; he pulled away and hit one deputy in the face twice.

Car, tools taken

A 34-year-old Bremerton man was in Superior Court Oct. 28 charged with taking a motor vehicle.

Bail was $50,000. He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Court papers say Bremerton police responded at 7:06 a.m. Oct. 23 to the 5600 block of Kitsap Way. A man was making a purchase inside a market and left his vehicle running. His girlfriend, who was parked next to that truck, saw a man get in and drive off. The truck was later found in an apartment parking lot.

A man walking his dog said he saw a man with a shopping cart full of tools. The owner of the truck is a roofer. The witness pointed toward a homeless encampment next to the parking lot. Tools were found in greenery around the camp and in the suspect’s tent. The suspect was not found, but was identified in a photo-lineup from his Facebook page.
