Bail was set at $250,000 for a 59-year-old Tacoma man charged with first-degree robbery April 1 in Superior Court.

He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine.

Court papers say Kitsap deputies responded to the 3300 block of NW Randall Way, the Navy Federal Credit Union Bank, at 9:39 a.m. March 27.

The bank manager said the robber stole about $2,500 and put it in a green handbag. The suspect wore a COVID mask, oversized sunglasses and walked with a limp. Deputies later looked at a video that showed the robber exiting the bank.

Court papers say the suspect was not hesitant but acted like he’d practiced the crime. The teller was told, “This is a robbery,” so she gave him the money, and he fled. Officials found out the man had stolen the jacket he wore the previous day at Target.

Officials found out the suspect committed two other bank robberies in Port Orchard.

Road rage

Bail is set at $300,000 for a 37-year-old Bremerton man charged with second-degree assault with a deadly weapon in Kitsap County Superior Court April 1.

He faces 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Court records say Bremerton police responded to Wheaton Way at Riddell Road at 7:28 p.m. March 29. A man with heavily tatted arms and hands pointed a firearm at the reporting party.

The victim said a man in a truck passed him aggressively as if he was driving too slow. He threw hand signals at him and seemed upset. At a stoplight he yelled obscenities at him and called his wife and child fat and ugly, then pointed a gun at them and said, “pow, pow, pow.” The victim feared for his life and retaliation if he reported it to police.

Police went to the suspect’s house, and he appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol, and looked as if he had been crying. He said he was having words with his ex. After being arrested, he resisted arrest and threatened the officer.
