A 44-year-old man called 911 last week claiming he had been threatened by a man who parked his large truck in a South Kitsap fast food restaurant parking lot, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the report, the victim said he was waiting to order food inside Wendy’s on Bethel Road when he began complaining about large trucks taking up too much space when they park.

Later, when he went to the bathroom, he said a man “bumped into him,” and when he followed him outside, he said the man got into a pick-up truck and flashed his middle finger at him. The victim said he gave the man “a disgusted look” and went back inside the restaurant.

He said the other man then followed him back into the restaurant and told him if he “left the restaurant in the next 15 minutes, he would shoot him.”

The victim then called 911, saying he didn’t want any charges filed, he just wanted the man contacted.

Based on the business name on the side of the truck and its license plate number, a deputy contacted the owner of the truck.

He told the deputy that he was at Wendy’s when he heard a man complaining about people driving large trucks.

At one point, he said, the man followed him out of the restaurant and he “felt threatened,” so he warned the man that if he “continued, he was going to get (beat up) or shot).”

When he asked to know the name of the man, the deputy informed him he could request a copy of the report.

A 23-year-old South Kitsap man was arrested last week for theft and vehicle prowling after being identified on video surveillance using a stolen debit card, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the report, the incident began shortly after 9 a.m. Nov. 19 when a South Kitsap woman reported that her vehicle, which she had left unlocked, was rifled through earlier that morning or the night before.

She said her purse, wallet, driver’s license, checkbook, $400 in cash and two debit cards were missing.

Since then, she said one of the debit cards had been used at two local gas stations and Wal-Mart in East Bremerton.

The following day, a loss prevention officer at Wal-Mart provided a deputy with surveillance footage of a car entering and leaving the parking lot at about the time the transactions were made.

During one of the transactions, one of the two suspects provided his birthdate to prove he was old enough to buy two items, and the cashier recorded the date.

Using the date of birth, the deputy located a suspect that matched the description and had a similar vehicle to one of the suspects in the footage.

Then deputy then contacted the suspect, who denied taking the items from the woman’ vehicle, but during a search of his vehicle, the deputy reportedly located three car stereos, numerous cell phones, wrenches, flashlights, gloves and other tools commonly used to commit burglaries and vehicle prowls.

The suspect was then placed under arrest, and during a body search, one of the stolen debit cards was located in his sock.

He was then booked into Kitsap County Jail for two counts of second-degree theft and three counts of second-degree vehicle prowl. He was held under $75,000 bail.
