Bomb threat evacuates SKHS

South Kitsap High School was dismissed prior to the end of the day after a bomb threat was made known to the staff.

South Kitsap High School was dismissed at 1:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, after a threat was made known to the school’s staff.

“What I can tell you is that the threat was reported this afternoon, and based on that threat, we chose to evacuate the school,” Superintendent Michelle Reid said.

The transportation department was dispatched to transport students home and parents were provided messages of explanation through the school’s safety line.

Because police are investigating the incident, Reid couldn’t go into detail, but she said the incident was a bomb threat.

“Based on the bomb threat, we chose to end school prior to the end of the day,” Reid said.

With this occurrence, Reid emphasized, “Safety is the number-one priority for us in the district.”
