Both lanes of travel on SR-3 open after rollover accident; five taken to hospital

NORTH END — Southbound Highway 3 is reopened after a rollover accident at State Route 3 and Thompson Road Northwest. At about 12:30 p.m., a Ford van with Oregon plates was southbound on Highway 3 when it rolled. There were five passengers in the van; two adults and three children. Three passengers are being transported to Harrison Medical Center and two are being airlifted to Harborview. Both of the victims being airlifted are children.

NORTH END — Both lanes of travel on State Route 3 are reopen after a rollover accident at State Route 3 and Thompson Road Northwest.

At about 12:30 p.m., a Ford Econoline van registered in Oregon was southbound on Highway 3 when it rolled down an embankment. There were five passengers in the van; two adults and three children.

While the names of the victims are being withheld, Jody Matson, a spokeswoman with the Poulsbo Fire Department, said they are a family that recently relocated to Poulsbo from Klamath Falls, Ore.

Two of the children were seated in a bench-type seat that came unbolted and was ejected, said Krista Hedstrom, spokeswoman for the Washington State Patrol. The third child may have been seated in the front seat between both parents. It is unknown whether the passengers were wearing seatbelts.

Three passengers are being transported to Harrison Medical Center and two are being airlifted to Harborview. Both of the victims being airlifted are children.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
