Bremerton Police Detectives are seeking a suspect in a robbery that occurred on July 2. A man reported that he was robbed at gunpoint while waking to work early in the morning on the 100 block of Montgomery Avenue. The man’s cell phone and backpack were taken.
Detectives and officers investigating the incident utilized the description provided by the victim along with security camera footage and canvassing of the area to develop suspect information. Detectives executed a search warrant at an address on the 1500 block of Olympic Avenue on July 15, and recovered several of the items taken in the robbery as well as the clothing worn during the incident.
The suspect was not located at the time of the search warrant.
Information from the investigation shows that the suspect, Lewis Thomas, age 20, recently arrived in this area from Louisiana, and may be going back to that state. An arrest warrant for Robbery in the First Degree has been issued by the Kitsap County Court, with nationwide extradition and $500,000 bail. Thomas should be considered armed, since no gun has been recovered at this point.
“For someone to be robbed walking to work in the morning is very serious and our detectives have been working hard on this case,” said Bremerton Police Chief Steve Strachan, adding, “Somebody knows where Thomas is located, and we want to get him off the street as quickly as possible.”
No one should attempt to contact the suspect directly, and any information should be directed to 911.
