Brace for more delays on North End roads

Miller Bay Estates, Jefferson Beach roadwork and Bond Road closures

Plan on adding more than a few minutes to trips across the North End as Kitsap County Public Works moves into high gear with roadwork this month. In some cases, there’s no getting around the delays. Washington State Department of Transportation will close portions of Bond Road this summer as well.

Miller Bay, Indianola, Gunderson and Bond roads all have big projects in the works and there will be closures and delays of up to 20 minutes. In addition, paving and roadwork will take place in Miller Bay Estates and Jefferson Beach throughout the summer. County crews may be working in areas adjacent to and outside of the driving lanes. This work includes storm clean-up, shoulder maintenance, sweeping, vegetation management and other activities. Use caution when passing roadside workers.

Miller Bay Road

Drivers are advised to use an alternate route in the area of Miller Bay Road over the next few months. Work is being done on the road in several locations.

Miller Bay Road, between Gunderson and Indianola roads, has lengthy (up to 20 minutes) delays Monday through Friday. The anticipated project length is through December. The project on Miller Bay Road between the Gunderson Road and Indianola Road intersections will widen shoulders, driving and turning lanes to provide for safer vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

Traffic signals at the Gunderson and Indianola intersections will also be installed finally. To accommodate the widened pavement and improve fish passage, the existing Grover’s Creek culvert will be replaced wth a short-span bridge

Miller Bay Road, at the intersection of West Kingston Road, has minimal delays Monday through Friday. Anticipated project length is through November. This is an intersection improvement project and includes a traffic light installation as well as shoulder, driving and turn lane widening.

Miller Bay Estates &

Jefferson Beach

Miller Bay Estates roads will have minimal delays Monday through Friday for the next two months. County road crews have started paving roads.

Jefferson Beach roads will have minimal delays Monday through Friday for two weeks. County road crews will be pre-leveling the roads in preparation for chip seal this summer.
