Bremerton explores other services for airport

The Port of Bremerton has begun a feasibility study to determine whether limited commercial passenger or cargo service could be introduced at Bremerton National Airport.

The initial analysis responds to community interest in expanded airport services, focusing on enhancing regional economic development and quality of life.

Washington state is also examining options to ease traffic at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, but the port’s study is an independent, locally focused effort. With state funding, the study’s first phase will assess regional demand for passenger and cargo services.

In this phase, consultants are analyzing air service trends, potential passenger demand and regional cargo data. Possible outcomes range from limited viability to options like non-stop regional flights or niche cargo services. Results are expected in early 2025, with the port commission set to decide on next steps in February.

An online open house is available for community members to share feedback, helping the port understand local priorities, through Nov. 18. If the study progresses, future phases will address environmental impacts, costs and other factors. The port plans further public input sessions, including an in-person open house in January.
