A homeless shelter organized by the Bremerton Salvation Army will hold its grand opening next Monday, Feb. 7.
Families will be able to move in shortly after, but the exact time has not been released, said Maj. Jim Baker, so that the privacy of the families’ is respected.
The grand opening had been scheduled for Jan. 31, but was postponed in order to install surveillance cameras and replace locks, Baker said.
“They’re just small things,” Baker said.
Kitsap Community Resources has conducted background checks on eligible families and will provide case management for them. The shelter is located at 900 Pacific Ave. When Bremerton Salvation Army began planning for the shelter in November, it was originally to be in the facility’s back parking lot as a tent city.
