Bremerton man doesn’t shift car in park before fleeing from police on bridge

A 20-year-old Bremerton man didn’t shift his vehicle in park when he exited the car to run away from a Bremerton Police Department officer on Warren Avenue Bridge Sunday, causing the officer to drive his vehicle in front of the car in an attempt to stop it.

A 20-year-old Bremerton man didn’t shift his vehicle in park when he exited the car to run away from a Bremerton Police Department officer on Warren Avenue Bridge Sunday, causing the officer to drive his vehicle in front of the car in an attempt to stop it.

The suspected drunken driver was in a 1995 Mercury 4D at 1:24 p.m. and slowed down his car as the fully marked patrol car followed him south on the Warren Avenue Bridge. The car came to a stop after the officer placed his vehicle in front. There were no injuries and the 20-year-old’s vehicle was impounded by police.

The incident and charges are under investigation according to a report from the Washington State Patrol.
