A Bremerton man was struck by a Taser near his yard after questioning men who were standing in his yard Sept. 16.

A police officer arrived to the man’s residence on Sunset Vista Place at about 11:24 a.m. The 46-year-old man said he was looking out his window when he saw two men were standing in his yard on the east side of his property. They were standing near trees inside his fenced off area, according to police reports.

The man went outside and asked the men what they were doing, but they did not answer and began to walk north toward a wooded area that is owned by the Bremerton School District. The man walked up to the men and asked them again what they were doing in his yard.

One man, who appeared to be about 22 years old, pulled an object out of his pocket that started “sparkling.” The 46-year-old said that he then realized that it was a Taser. The man pointed it at the 46-year-old and said he would strike him if he did not get out of the way. The 46-year-old returned to his home.

When he returned to his house, his chest was stinging and he realized that he was struck by the Taser. The officer observed two welts on his chest.

The suspects were not located during a check of the area before and after talking to the 46-year-old.
