A spat between roommates over money was avenged with smeared maple bars Saturday, leading to the arrest of a 20-year-old Bremerton man.

A 24-year-old Bremerton man reported property damage at his house in the 1900 block of Fifth Street at 1:51 p.m., suspecting his roommate of the vandalism, according to police reports. Police found a broken lamp, a hole in the big screen TV, a broken barbecue grill and maple bar frosting smeared all over the walls, appliances and a fish aquarium. Officers also noticed a water-damaged heater. Total damages were estimated to be $500.

The 20-year-old roommate came to the house while police were there and admitted to breaking the TV and smearing the doughnuts. He told police he was upset that the rent money he gave to his roommate was used to pay the energy bill.

The 20-year-old was arrested and taken to Kitsap County jail for investigation of third-degree malicious mischief.
