CK school reopens after closure due to threat

Brownsville Elementary School in Central Kitsap is open again Sept. 26 after a threat closed the school Sept. 25.

No dangerous devices were found. Kitsap sheriff’s office is investigating the threat. The school was evacuated because of it. “We take all threats seriously because the safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” a school statement reads.

While not saying it was a bomb threat, sheriff spokesman Kevin McCarty said the State Patrol and Pierce County Sheriff’s Department sent bomb technicians and explosive ordnance disposal-trained dogs to check.
