Bremerton-Seattle ferry service affected after a suspicious package was found aboard the Kaleetan

The 8:45 sailing from Bremerton to Seattle was canceled.

BREMERTON — Washington State Ferries sailings to and from Bremerton were delayed or canceled this morning after a suspicious package was discovered aboard the ferry Kaleetan.

The package was found on the Kaleetan after it arrived at Colman Dock in Seattle, said Nicola Zanchi of Washington State Ferries. The agency went through it’s normal protocol and temporarily suspended operations until authorities dealt with the package, which contained an “electronic charging unit.” Zanchi said.

The 8:35 sailing from Seattle to Bremerton was delayed 30 minutes and the 8:45 departure from Bremerton to Seattle was canceled.

Once authorities cleared the package, normal operations resumed. The 9:50 sailing from Bremerton to Seattle went off as scheduled.
