Brightest in business community to be honored

Each year the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce honors the best and brightest of the Silverdale and Central Kitsap business community, as nominated by members of the community with its Accolades presentation.

This year, the awards will be presented during the Best of Central Kitsap celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Kitsap Mall. The public is encouraged to attend.

The Citizen of the Year is chosen from individuals who have made a significant contribution through time, energy and talent toward developing a sense of community in Silverdale. The Oxford Suites Inn, sponsor of the Citizen of the Year award, will present the engraved Tiffany platter to community activist Natalie Bryson.

The Central Kitsap Reporter sponsors the Business of the Year award, to be presented this year to Kitsap Credit Union. Nominees for this award are businesses which have, through financial and in-kind resources made a significant impact on the Silverdale community’s economic and social well-being. Additionally, management has taken an active leadership role in the community and encouraged and allowed staff to take part in efforts to promote and improve the community.

Kitsap Community Credit Union sponsors the Business Pioneer award, which will be presented this year to Kitsap Bank. This award is presented to a business that has been in existence prior to 1980 and made significant contributions to the community and its development.

The Paul G. Linder Award for Community Service, presented to the Chamber Member of the Year is sponsored by Puget Sound Energy. This year’s recipient is Rob White, publisher of the Central Kitsap Reporter, for his service and diligence to the Chamber through time, talent and resources.
