Burn ban to be lifted Thursday

Fire officials have announced that a Kitsap County burn ban will be lifted Thursday, following a wet weekend.

The decision was made by the Kitsap County Fire Chiefs Association, in cooperation with the county Fire Marshal’s Office and the state Department of Natural Resources. It will take effect at 8 a.m.

The fire ban began July 8, after dry weather left the county’s vegetation “dangerously parched” according to a Fire Chiefs press release. The release noted that despite recent rainfall, fire danger remains moderate and the public should continue to exercise caution with outdoor burns.
