“How to maintain your self-esteem through thick and thin” will be presented by Rich Buckham, Ph.D. 7 p.m. Jan. 11 to Kitsap CHADD, the local AD/HD (Attention Deficit Disorder) support group. Buckham is a marriage and family therapist at Peninsula Psychological Center with several locations in Kitsap County, including Silverdale. Discussion will follow and all are welcome. Kitsap Audubon Society:
“Urban Raptors: Re-wilding our Neighborhoods and Lives,” will be presented by Stan Rullman at the next Kitsap Audubon Society meeting, Thursday, Jan. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Poulsbo Library, lower level. Rullman has just completed a six-year research project studying both diurnal (daytime) and nocturnal (nighttime) raptors along Seattle’s urban-to-wildland gradient. Women of Achievement Recognition Luncheon:
Nominations for the the YWCA of Kitsap County’s 22nd Women of Achievement awards are available at the YWCA Community Center, 905 Pacific Avenue, Bremerton. Proceeds from the luncheon will directly benefit YWCA programs that provide supportive services for domestic violence survivors and their children. Bremerton Ferry Bloodmobile:
Bremerton Ferry Bloodmobile will be at the Bremerton Transit Center Friday, Jan. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will be closed 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. After donation, blood is separated into three blood components, platelets, red cells and plasma and can be used by three different patients. Blood donated to the Puget Sound Blood Center is distributed to over 70 hospitals and clinics in western Washington.
USA Dance Kitsap:
USA Dance Kitsap holds chapter dances the third Saturday of each month at the Masonic Temple of Bremerton, 878 Fifth St., Bremerton. Lessons are held 7 to 8 p.m., when the dance starts. The dance ends at 11 p.m. Admission: $7 for members, $10 for general public. Normal dress code is “dressy casual” for monthly dances and semiformal for the group’s January dance, held Jan. 15. Live music will be provided by Napu. The 7 p.m. lesson is tango with Doug Henry. The dances are open to individuals as well as couples. Beginners are welcome and encouraged.
