Beekeeping presentation at Silverdale library:
Kitsap Regional Library will offer a series of presentations on backyard beekeeping presented by the West Sound Beekeepers Association at 2 p.m. May 26 at the Silverdale Library.

Volunteers needed with Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group:
The Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group seeks volunteers for several upcoming projects. Volunteers are needed to assist with the installation, removal and monitoring of smolt traps daily through June 7. On May 17, the group will need help with community events and classroom workshops. Other areas of assistance include office-work, selling produce at the Belfair Farmers Market and equipment operators. The Kitsap Audubon Society will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. May 12 at the lower level of the Poulsbo library. MOAA Armed Forces Day Meeting:
The Kitsap Chapter of the Military Officer’s Association of America will hold its Armed Forces Day Luncheon on Tuesday, May 17 at the Elks Lodge, 4131 Pine Road NE, Bremerton. A social hour will begin at 11 a.m., followed by luncheon at noon with the program to follow. The speaker will be Army Col. Paul J. Wood, USA, deputy commanding officer, US Army Cadet Command. Leadership and Supervision Certificate Program at OC:
Beginning summer quarter 2011, Olympic College will offer a Leadership and Supervision Certificate Program. Those looking to change careers, enhance employment standing or strengthen their job marketability are encouraged to enroll in the program. It is designed to build an understanding of leadership theory and practice. All courses for the program will be taught online and can be completed in less than three quarters. The 18-credit program does not have any prerequisites. Registration for the program begins June 3 for new students and May 23 for current or former students.
Tim Eyman to speak at CK Republican event:
The Central Kitsap Republican Women’s annual May luncheon will feature Tim Eyman and a speaker on Islam and terrorism.
The luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12 at The Sons of Norway Hall, 1018 18th St., Bremerton. RSVP by Monday, May 9 at (360) 479-5571, cost is $25. Kaj Ahlburg’s speech is called “Al Qaeda, Islam & Islamic Terrorism” and Eyman, known for his anti-tax initiatives, will give a “state of the state” speech.
