ANNUAL STILLWATERS USED BOOK SALE: Stillwaters Environmental Center, 26059 Barber Cut Off Road, Kingston, will have a used book sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 3. There will be 15,000 – 20,000 books, new and used, covering all subjects, fiction and non-fiction, almost all priced $1 or less.  The “Bag Sale” is all weekend, Oct. 1-3, when books will be sold for $5 per grocery bag full on Friday, $3 per bag on Saturday, and free on Sunday. PET ADOPTION EVENT: Kitsap Humane Society will host Homecoming, a pet adoption event, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds in East Bremerton. In addition to finding homes for pets, the event will include games, vendors, food and more.

ARMCHAIR POETRY: Poets Jennifer Hager, Dick Levin and Bill Mawhinney will read their work starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Poulsbohemian Coffeehouse, 19003 Front St. in Poulsbo. SEABOLD SECOND SATURDAY: Brent Grossman brings his blend of boogie-woogie guitar, autoharp, African thumb piano and percussion to Seabold Community Hall, 14451 Komedal Road, Bainbridge Island, Saturday, Sept. 11. DAY OF SERVICE: A 2010 National Day of Service is planned from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 11, at Poulsbo’s Fish Park, where citizens have worked hard to create an urban sanctuary in the city.  Come pull some blackberries, pick up trash and contribute to your community on this very important day. POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY: Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Keyport and the Naval Undersea Museum, Keyport are partnering to commemorate POW/MIA Recognition Day from 7:45-8:15 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, at the Naval Undersea Museum, Keyport. Rear Adm.
