The Kitsap Equity Race And Community Engagement Coalition (ERACE) will hold Call for Justice protests this week in Poulsbo and on Bainbridge Island, following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police officers last week.
The first protest organized by the group already occurred on Sunday in Bremerton along the Manette Bridge. The next Call for Justice protest will take place Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 305 and NE Liberty Road outside the Poulsbo Village. A Thursday protest is scheduled for Bainbridge Island from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. along the intersection of Highway 305 and Winslow Way E near the ferry terminal.
Protesters are required to wear a mask and adhere to the social distancing guidelines of at least six feet apart from one another, according to Kitsap ERACE Coalition’s Facebook page. Participants are also advised to bring signs with clear wording shown.
“Though we will be physically distanced, we can be united in our statements,” the post reads. “Show up in solidarity. Show up to call for justice. Show up with respect and care for fellow community members by wearing a mask and keeping a minimum of 6 ft. physical distance between yourself and others.”
