Candidate Filing Week is coming soon for people interested in running for public office.
The 2020 General Election includes candidates for federal, statewide, and multi-county legislative or judicial offices.
More than 300 federal and state offices are open for election in 2020, including all U.S. representatives, statewide offices, the state House of Representatives, and half of the state Senate.
Citizens considering a run for state public office can download a candidate guide, read answers to frequently asked questions, and more on the Resources for Candidates page on the Secretary of State’s website.
In Kitsap County, positions open for election include state offices; in the Legislature, state senator, and state representative, Position 1 and Position 2 in Legislative District 23; Kitsap County Commissioner District 1 and District 2; and eight judge positions in Kitsap County Superior Court. Candidate Filing Week runs from Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 15.
Candidates for federal, statewide, and multi-county legislative or judicial offices must file with the Secretary of State, which can be done online 24 hours a day beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, May 11, and ending at 4 p.m. Friday, May 15.
All other local candidacies may file with the Kitsap County Elections Division.
