Candidate forums slated prior to primary

The League of Women Voters of Kitsap has scheduled free public candidate forums prior to the Aug. 5 primary election.

BREMERTON — The League of Women Voters of Kitsap has scheduled free public candidate forums prior to the Aug. 5 primary election.

All forums will take place at the Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 6th St. All interested citizens are invited to attend and to bring their questions for the candidates.

On July 15, a candidates forum is set for 6:30 p.m. for three candidates in the Sixth Congressional District race – W. McPherson (Independent), Marty McClendon (Republican) and Douglas Milholland (Green) – who are challenging incumbent U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer, a Democrat.

On July 21, candidates for the 35th Legislative District state senate race – Irene Bowling (D), Travis Couture (R) and incumbent Sen. Tim Sheldon (D) — will participate in a forum at 6:30 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m., candidates Dan Griffey (R), Josiah Rowell (R) and incumbent State Rep. Kathy Haigh (D) — all running for the 35th Legislative District State Representative Position 1 seat — will participate in a forum.

Candidates for the Kitsap County prosecutor, incumbent Russ Hauge (D), Tina Robinson (R), Bruce Danielson (I) and Bob Scales (D), will meet at 6:30 p.m. on July 22. At 7:30 p.m., county assessor candidates Paul Andrews (D), W. Sean Smith (R), Gary Sobeck (D) and Phil Cook (R) will participate in a forum.

On July 28, at 6:30 p.m. candidates Bill Scheidler (R), Nathan Schlicher (D) and incumbent State Rep. Jesse Young (R) will participate in a forum for the  26th Legislative District, State Representative Position 1 seat.
