Car hits ferry worker on the Puyallup; delays Kingston ferry

KINGSTON — A Washington State Ferries employee on board the Puyallup was hit and injured by a car in Kingston Wednesday afternoon.

The worker was taken by ambulance to Harrison Medical Center and a tow truck was called to remove the car, Ferries Spokeswoman Susan Harris-Huether said. The incident forced the cancellation of the 2:20 p.m. sailing from Edmonds. The Puyallup was expected to be back on schedule for the 3:10 p.m. sailing from Kingston.

Harris-Huether said a driver had apparently accidentally hit the accelerator of their car, causing it to strike the ferry employee and crash into a bulkhead.
