POULSBO — Two people were arrested after a police vehicle pursuit reached speeds of 110 miles per hour early Thursday morning on State Route 3, according to a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office report.

A Port Orchard Police officer was headed northbound on SR 3 shortly before 4 a.m. when he reported a stolen, red 1989 Toyota Camry headed northbound just past the Kitsap Way exit.

The officer turned on his lights and attempted to stop the Toyota as it passed the Chico Way exit, but the Toyota continued northbound and a police pursuit ensued. Spike stripes were put out at SR 3 at the Sherman Hill overpass but the car missed the spikes.

The pursuit ended at the SR 3 and Finn Hill Road exit when the officer lost sight of the car.

Deputies searched the area and found two people walking in the 18000 block of Viking Way. An officer stopped and talked to the man and woman, who were carrying a bag full of tools, which officers noted as similar to burglary tools.

After being interviewed, the man and woman were detained and were eventually arrested for vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools, stolen property and drug paraphernalia and attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle.
