Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue units and Poulsbo Fire responded to a single-vehicle rollover with an entrapped driver on Silverdale Way Monday afternoon.
Around 3:35 p.m., crews stabilized the vehicle and removed the roof to get the driver out of the vehicle. The driver was the lone occupant in the vehicle.
A Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputy spoke with a witness on scene, who stated that the vehicle swerved slightly twice in the lane of travel before leaving the roadway, according to KCSO Public Information Officer Scott Wilson. The witness also told the deputy that the vehicle then drifted off of the roadway before rolling on its side.
The driver told a deputy that he must have fallen asleep at the wheel as he was tired while driving home from work. The driver denied using drugs or alcohol and the deputy did not observe any indications of impairment, according to Wilson.
The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries to his leg, finger and neck, Wilson said. The Poulsbo Fire Department transported the driver to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.
