Catering, photography studio move into Kingston House

Mimi Smith-Danielson and Brad Camp set up business in town

A dash of this, a pinch of that, is the beginning of a great recipe for some of the best meals, but when Mimi Smith-Danielson of Centerline Catering found herself pinching space to keep up with an expanding catering business she dashed to a new facility in Kingston and opened up space for a local photographer as well.

The Kingston House on Ohio Avenue was home to a bed and breakfast until recently. It is now in the works, pending a few more modifications, to serve as the operations center for Centerline Catering.

The service has been around since the late 1980s and Smith-Danielson has won awards for her prepared dishes. She has also catered gourmet meals for the Roving Players dinner theater productions since the mid 1990s, and was featured at the Festival of Trees and many other community events.

“It was time to expand the business to meet the demand of a rapidly growing client base,” said Smith-Danielson. “The Kingston House is a perfect location to meet clients in a professional setting and streamline the kitchen operations.”

The space also opened an opportunity for local veteran photographer Brad Camp, whose wedding photojournalism business is also growing at a rapid clip. Camp is also photographer for the Kingston Community News, North Kitsap Herald and Bainbridge Review.

The Kingston House has a large 400-square-foot room that is ideal for a studio setup. Camp who is also an award-winning photojournalist has expanded his documentary style of photography to include weddings.

“Brides get very excited to see how their wedding day can be photographed like a story. I capture heartfelt moments that last only as long as the blink of an eye, however, I needed an indoor studio for growing the portrait part of the business,” he said. “Shooting portraits out in the rain is not so good for wedding gowns.”

Smith-Danielson and Camp have been friends for many years and see the space as a growing opportunity. Both businesses compliment each other but are independent.

The Kingston House is located at 26117 Ohio Avenue in Kingston, open by appointment only. Call Centerline Catering at (360) 297-8876 or Brad Camp Images at (360) 860-1342. Visit them on the Web at www.bradcampimages.com and www.centerlinecatering.com.
