KINGSTON — Lindsay Sprague had three kills and four serving aces and Jade Niemeyer added five assists as the Kingston Cavaliers ended their winning season by topping the Ridgetop Raiders in two games.
The triumph comes after the Cavs had lost to the same team two days before.
“It’s a great feeling to beat this team,” Head Coach Tim French said.
The Cavs were victorious after two games, winning 25-9 and 25-23. A mandatory third game was played in which Kingston also won by a final of 15-10.
Only in the second game did the Cavaliers face any trouble from the Raiders. But down 17-23, the Cavs won eight points in a row to take the game, and the match.
“I tell (the team) this is a game of momentum,” French said. “We kept up the energy level and the girls decided that the (second) game wasn’t going to be over yet.”
French said he has been impressed all season with Sprague’s play and said she is dependable in all positions, if needed.
“Sprague does a lot for us,” French said. “She has really been a rock for us this year.”
The Cavs finish the year with a solid 9-3 record and are sending 12 graduating ninth graders to North Kitsap High School.
“I ask the girls who would play in high school,” French said. “Every one of them raised their hand.”
“This is a great team,” French added. “They’re all social and it takes some work to keep them focused. But I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls.”
