KINGSTON — Richard Elwood Anderson of Kingston died Feb. 15 at Hospice Care Center in Bremerton. He was 76.
Born March 24, 1936 in Glasgow, Mont., to Carl and Ruth Anderson.
Survived by wife, Lillian; daughters, Jill Middleton and Holly Wright, both of Kingston; brother, Alan Anderson of Quilcene; grandchildren, Jenna, Haley, Gavin, Jordan and Elijah. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Egan.
Member of Kingston Unity Center, prize-winning carver with Kitsap Carvers. Loved spending time with his grandchildren. A mentor to young people. Officer with Cement Masons Local 528, taught apprenticeship school.
Contributing member of Kitsap Audubon Society, Trout Unlimited, and Stillwaters Conservation Center. Collected more than 10,000 signatures to introduce state legislation to fund removal of derelict fishing gear from Northwest waterways. Founder of the Georgia Joylander Home Project, working to increase home ownership in distressed areas.
