Celebration of life May 20 for former school board member Dick Endresen | Passages

Dick had a great appreciation for education and served on the North Kitsap School Board for 20 years. He advocated for the school district and saw several new school buildings built during his tenure. He also served on the Poulsbo Planning Commission. Dick was a lifetime member of the Sons of Norway and always appreciated his Norwegian heritage.

POULSBO — Richard Lincoln (Dick) Endresen passed away, surrounded by family, on May 4. He was 85.

Dick was born in Seattle, Wash., to Anna and Olaf Endresen on Feb. 12, 1927 and was the youngest of three children. He graduated from West Seattle High School and then joined the Coast and Geodetic Survey, spending most of his service in Alaska.

Dick married Donna Roush on Aug. 18, 1947. They had five children and lived in Seattle until their move to Bainbridge Island in 1966. In 1982, they moved to Poulsbo where they have lived ever since. Dick made his living as a sales representative, primarily for the Hershey Chocolate Co., until his retirement.

Dick had a great appreciation for education and served on the North Kitsap School Board for 20 years. Dick was a lifetime member of the Sons of Norway and always appreciated his Norwegian heritage.

Dick was the patriarch of his family and always had wise words for them. He supported his children and grandchildren with sage advice and encouragement. He was very proud of all of them. He loved having coffee with friends, spending time with his family and summer boat trips to the San Juans on the “Ida Mae.”

Dick is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Laurel Watson (Doug), Stephen Endresen (Neita), Leslie Brown, Shelley Haffie (Bill), and Scott Endresen; grandchildren, Aaron Endresen (Myriah), Casey Endresen (Nicole) Ian Henry, Travis Endresen, Sarah Watson-Radke (Jason), Megan Watson, MacKenzie Watson (Eric); five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Adelle Scarvie and Olive Porter. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lindsay Endresen, and son-in-law, Ronald Brown.

The family will hold an Open House to celebrate his life on Sunday, May 20 at their home, 500 NE Sommerseth, Poulsbo, from 1-4 p.m. Please join us with memories and happy hearts.
