On Sept. 25, the Central Kitsap school board unanimously approved a motion to move ninth-grade students up to Central Kitsap High School and Olympic High School starting in the 2014-15 school year. Klahowya Secondary School will remain seventh through twelfth.
Tonight there will be a forum for parents to voice concerns or pose questions regarding the movement of the ninth graders. The forum begins at 6:30 p.m. in the gym of the Jenne-Wright Administration Center on Silverdale Way.
During the board meetings, directors also agreed that other moves like school closures and sixth-grade students moving up would be put on hold for onE year. The transition of ninth-grade students will only affect students from Central Kitsap, Fairview and Ridgetop junior high schools. The change is not expected to alter in-district or non-district transfers. Transfer requests will continued to be processed.
