Kingston needs a catchy slogan to give it an identity in its quest to attract more visitors downtown. That’s the thinking of the Kingston Revitalization Association and Kingston Stakeholders, organizations who work under the umbrella of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce to brighten up, develop, promote and get downtown bustling. The slogan could be used in future marketing campaigns, similar to Poulsbo’s use of “Little Norway.”
The two groups picked their brains for ideas and came up with a whole list of slogans, then culled them down to just a few. Now they’d like to get input from the community on whether the slogans seem to fit the image Kingston puts forward.
Here are the top contenders:
• A Quiet Harbor
community
• Close Enough to Get Away
• A Safe Harbor
• A Safe Harbor in a Busy World
• A Safe Harbor Close Enough to Get Away
Those wishing to vote for their favorite, or who might have another catchy phrase to suggest, are asked to contact the Kingston Chamber of Commerce at (360) 297-3813 or e-mail exec@kingstonchamber.com. The chamber will keep a tally and pass opinions back to KRA and Stakeholders, who like super delegates, will make a final decision with a sense of the community’s preference in mind.
