The Silverdale Chamber of Commerce is taking an active role in the possible incorporation of Silverdale.

The Chamber board of directors created a task force in November to research and make a recommendation regarding the incorporation of Silverdale. The task force currently consists of five members, but the Chamber is looking for more people to discuss the issue, according to Chamber Executive Director Darla Murker.

The task force’s recommendation will be based on information from Chamber members as well as the community.

“We want to talk to the members first, but we also want to talk to the community,” Murker said.

The task force created a basic survey asking 12 questions about incorporation. The survey asks people whether or not they support incorporation efforts and what topics concern them regarding Silverdale incorporation.

“We want to know what are the unknowns that people want to address,” Murker said. “We’ll start at a basic level and go from there.”

Murker said incorporation is “a very important issue” and the task force hopes their efforts will let people know that the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce supports incorporating Silverdale.

“The Chamber feels strongly that incorporation is a very important issue,” Murker said. “We just want to make it very public that the Chamber is in favor of it.”
