The city is looking for help from public or private partners when it comes to constructing a new “Welcome to Port Orchard” sign.
City Councilmember Jerry Childs said the city could use help with the design and construction of a new sign to be placed somewhere inside the city’s limits. He hoped a new sign could go in at the intersection of Bay Street and Cline Avenue, but said its exact location was yet to be determined.
The city hopes for people interested in building or designing a sign to offer their services. This would help mitigate the cost of a new sign, Childs said, expected to be upwards of $4,000.
The city plans to approach local artists for help in sign design. The city will need to take into consideration upcoming changes in the sign code, Childs said.
The city is searching for locations and receiving bids on sign construction.
