SILVERDALE – Two former Central Kitsap High School graduates have accepted offers to work as project managers for the construction of a new high school, new CK middle school and to improve other CKSD buildings.
“Yesterday we did make a couple offers (for) project managers. Two absolutely outstanding candidates that came from the East coast,” said Doug Newell, CKSD executive director of business & operations.
“Both CK High grads. One’s actually the director of capital projects for the school system in South Carolina, building multiple schools (who) wants to come home. She’s going to take over doing CK High.
“We have another (project manager), she’s a CK High grad, UW grad, Rhode Island School of Design grad, 10 years as an architect, national award winner architect … currently project manager doing renovation of the central library in Boston … she wants to come home,” Newell said.
Newell spoke during the CKSD board meeting Feb. 24.
“She’s very impressive … she gets it, she knows it, she’s done it. 20 year Navy veteran to boot. The whole package.”
The election was finalized Feb. 19. Voters approved CKSD’s plans to make $260 million worth of improvements to buildings district-wide. ($40 million of the $260 million is state-provided, thus local taxpayers will fund $220 million of the $260 million total.)
