CK school board to vote on accepting Sup.’s resignation

The board will decide during its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday whether to release the superintendent from his contract and accept his resignation.

In its regularly scheduled meeting this Wednesday, April 10, the Central Kitsap School Board will address the recent announcement by Superintendent Greg Lynch that he has accepted a job with the Olympic Educational Service District 114.

According to the agenda, the board will decide on Wednesday whether or not to release the Superintendent from his contract, which currently runs through the 2014-15 school year.

The board has not officially stated if it will release the superintendent from his contract but the recommended action on the agenda is to approve his release and accept his resignation.

After the action item, the board will discuss its options moving forward to replace Lynch. At this point, two possible options are to begin a search immediately to replace Lynch when he leaves to start his new job July 1 or to seek an interim Superintendent to give the district more time.

Board President Mark Gaines said both are possible options but could not confirm any direction to which the board was leaning.

A public comment section will take place immediately following the discussion on search options. All members of the community are welcome to attend school board meetings, which take place at the Jeanne-Wright administration building
