A 30-year-old Port Orchard man got stuck in a pile of junk in a garage while allegedly burglarizing a foreclosed home, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The clumsy suspect was arrested Monday after the sheriff’s office received a report of noises coming from inside a vacant house on East Polk Street.

When deputies arrived at the house, they heard a man yelling from the garage, calling out “I’m in here and I’m stuck.” When the deputies entered the garage they found the suspect lying underneath four or five feet of junk piled up on the floor.

The man said he needed help getting out from underneath the pile, but the sheriff’s deputy reportedly told the man to get himself out. The suspect was reportedly hesitant until he became aware that the deputy was pointing a firearm at him and, noticing the gun, the man freed himself from the junk pile.

Once free, the suspect told the deputy he was walking by the empty house when “curiosity got the best of him.” He said he entered the home through an open back door and was rummaging around when he got stuck underneath the junk. He was stuck for about an hour before the deputies found him, the man said.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the Kitsap County Jail for residential burglary. Bail was set at $10,000.
