Kitsap Regional Library will accept public comment through tomorrow regarding the four potential Silverdale Library sites contained in three proposals submitted to the library on July 26. The KRL board is expected to make a decision regarding the site at its August 26 meeting.

KRL will fund the new library site through private fundraising efforts for the construction. It is expected that the new location will be double the size of its current library located in Old Town Silverdale. The facility is expected to be around 10,000-square-feet.

The three proposal options are:

One of two sites on the Central Kitsap Community Campus. The first option would be the site of the existing community center, home to CSTOCK. The second (unavailable until 2018), is the site of the Poplars commercial and residential center.

The owner of a building at 3888 NW Randall Way (west of the YMCA) proposed for KRL to purchase the building and renovate it for use as a library.

Owners of an undeveloped property at the corner of Bucklin Hill Road and Blaine Avenue have also proposed the library purchase the land adjacent to Clear Creek Trail.

Full details of the proposals are online at http://www.krl.org/silverdale-library-site-selection for those interested.

The public can comment on site options either by filling out comment sheets at the Silverdale Library or by submitting comments via email to jbrody@krl.org.
