Rat talk on March 16
BREMERTON – Council member Jerry McDonald will host the next District 3 community meeting, “Rats, Roads and Questions,” on Monday, March 16 from 7-8 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Bremerton Senior Center on East 13th Street and Nipsic Avenue. All Bremerton residents are encouraged to attend.
AARP Smart Driver course
Be a safer driver with the AARP Smart Driver program. Town hall meetings set
SILVERDALE – Sen. Christine Rolfes (Kitsap County), Rep. Sherry Appleton (Poulsbo) and Rep. Drew Hansen (Bainbridge Island) will host a town hall meeting on Saturday, March 14 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Jenne-Wright Administration Center at 9210 Silverdale Way NW in Silverdale.
Easter egg hunt April 4
BREMERTON —Kitsap Tennis and Athletic Center, 1909 NE John Carlson Rd., will host their Easter egg hunt and open house Sat. April 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Easter egg hunt is for children ages 3-12. It is open to the public and free of charge. Children ages three and under will hunt 10:15-10:30 a.m., children ages 4-5 will hunt from 11-11:30 a.m. and children ages 7-12 will hunt from 12-12:30 p.m.
The Easter egg hunt will take place outside on the KTAC grounds. In the event of rain the event will be moved indoors. In addition to the Easter egg hunt, KTAC will be offering tennis games for children of all ages.
The public is welcome to try out all the facilities including the tennis courts, swimming pool, racquetball courts and fitness center at no charge during the open house from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Olympic College scholarships available
BREMERTON – The Olympic College Foundation will provide over $300,000 in scholarship support to students attending Olympic College during the 2015–2016 academic year.
To be considered for any of the over 125 scholarships, applicants must fill out a scholarship application which can be found online at www.TheWashBoard.org.
Scholarship deadlines vary from Sunday, March 15 to Sunday, April 19.
Kitsap County MS walk set for April 11
Walk MS 2015 will connect thousands of people across Washington this spring – and comes to Silverdale on Saturday, April 11.
Walk MS: Kitsap County, presented by Haggen Northwest Fresh, begins at 9 a.m. at Klahowya Secondary School in Silverdale. It’s one of hundreds of fundraising walks across the nation that draw 300,000 people to the MS movement. Proceeds from Walk MS support research and local programs and services for people living with multiple sclerosis or who are affected by the disease.
The National MS Society, Greater Northwest Chapter is celebrating 25 years of Walk MS and is striving to raise $2.1 million through more than two dozen Walk MS 2015 events in Alaska, Montana, Northern Idaho and Washington.

Outdoor club meets first Wednesdays
BREMERTON – Peninsula Wilderness Club is an informal organization for people interested in the outdoors. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

Mental health first aid training March 24
BREMERTON – A nationally acclaimed Youth Mental Health First Aid course educates adults about how to provide help to a young person experiencing a mental health challenge, mental disorder, or mental health crisis.
The course is offered March 24 at Kitsap Mental Health Services in Bremerton and taught by KMHS staff certified as instructors through the national MHFA program. There is no cost for the eight-hour training.

Kitsap Rescue Mission to host Dinner of Hope

TRACYTON – Find a great book to read and help support the Tracyton library by attending the spring book sale at Tracyton Community Library on March 20 and March 21 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The volunteer-run library, located at 351 Tracy Ave. in Bremerton, is solely funded by book sales and donations.
Veterans Affairs town Hall March 19
BREMERTON – The Governor’s Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee is hosting a town hall meeting on March 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Eagles Nest, Kitsap Fairgrounds, 1195 N.W. Fairgrounds Road in Bremerton.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about employment, education and housing benefits, about military funeral honors, counseling, financial assistance and more.

‘World of Silent Flight’ at museum
On March 14-15 the Museum of Flight hosts Soaring Expo, an annual exhibition of everything about gliders and the sport of motorless flight. Full-size gliders and radio-controlled models will be on display. Amusements include free flight simulators. Representatives of local flight clubs including Evergreen Soaring and Puget Sound Soaring, will be on hand to answer questions about the sport of soaring and how to become a glider pilot. The events are free with admission to the Museum.
On Saturday, March 14 at 4 p.m., Ed Warnock, CEO of Perlan Project Inc., will give a presentation updating the progress on the Airbus Perlan Mission II glider project and its goal to fly at an unprecedented 100,000 feet.
