Senior specials at two local golf courses

This fall, seniors can celebrate their golden years with a round of golf at two local courses.

Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton and McCormick Woods Gold Club in Port Orchard exclusively hosts the Sunrise Special for seniors, which includes a round of golf, a complimentary cart and a choice of soup of the day or bottomless coffee. Start the day off right and play nine holes for $29 or the full 18 for $49 Sept. 23, 27 and 29. The special is available for tee times from 8-9 a.m. and after noon.

Demolition operations at NBK on Sept. 29

Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) will hold demolition operations that may involve noises and activity visible to the public Sept. 29.

Demolition operations are scheduled to take place at NBK-Bangor Demolitions Range from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Navy routinely conducts training exercises to ensure readiness.

Kitsap Business Forum meets Oct. 11

The October meeting of the Kitsap Business Forum (KBF) is 7-9 a.m. Oct. 11 at the Silverdale Beach Hotel.

Discover the process of choosing your thoughts and learn how it can impact your decision making n matters of life, health and business. The KBF will present a lively, interactive discussion on “Possibility thinking: Think your way to a new you.”

Leslie Dullum-Tutterrow, business and wellness consultant and owner of the Wellspring Company, and Kathleen Gordon, executive director of the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce, will host.

Attendees will learn tools, tips and techniques of possibility thinking to assist in the process of moving from concrete thinking to expanding their minds to see possibilities. In addition, they will have immediate opportunity to apply these newly learned skills.

KBF produces a monthly event to engage business leaders and stimulate thinking. KBF is organized by the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce in partnership with local businesses.

Grand opening of DICK’S Sporting Goods

DICK’s three-day grand opening celebration will begin at 8 a.m. Sept. 30 at the Kitsap Mall, 10315 Silverdale Way NW, Silverdale.

This is the ninth DICK’s location in Washington, and the 660th store nationwide.

The first 100 people in line Friday will receive an Adidas Go-To Performance T-shirt. Adults in line by 7:45 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 8:45 a.m. Sunday will get a chance to open the DICK’S Sporting Goods gift locker.

From noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, former Seahawks quarterback Dave Krieg will make an in-store appearance. Autographs will be available for people with wristbands, which have a limited quantity and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Saturday and Sunday giveaways include a free mystery gift card for the first 100 adults in line.

Free day at state parks Sept. 24

Have plans to visit a Washington state park on Saturday, Sept. 24? You’re in luck.

That date is a pass-free day at all state parks, meaning that daytime visitors will not need a Discover Pass to visit. An annual Discover Pass can otherwise be purchased for $30, or $10 for a one-day permit.

Sept. 24 marks the 23rd anniversary of National Public Lands Day — the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands.

Washington State Parks will have one more free day this year: Friday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day.

The financial services firm Edward Jones has hired Jennifer Zuver as the new financial advisor for Manette branch office located at 1100 Wheaton Way, Suite C.

Zuver is enthusiastic about taking over the office.

Zuver invites the public to join her at a grand opening celebration. The event will begin at 3 p.m. Oct. 7 at her office.
