Shipyard hosts Career Fair next weekend
Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility will host its 2012 Career Fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 27-28 at the Kitsap Sun Pavilion at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds.
PSNS & IMF and other employers expect to have openings in the following areas: student trainee (various); helper (various); journey- or worker-level positions in a variety of trades and physical science technicians.
Job applicants at the Career Fair can meet and talk with managers, mechanics and workers from the various trades. Working for PSNS & IMF offers competitive salaries and benefits including health insurance, retirement and paid vacations.

Rotary Club plans Mardi Gras-themed event
The Rotary Club of South Kitsap will hold a new, Mardi Gras-themed Casino Night on Feb. 18.
The Bay Street Bash, which will benefit the South Kitsap Rotary Foundation, will begin at 6 p.m. at the Port Orchard Pavilion, 701 Bay St.
The event is open to the public, and tickets are $40 per person, which includes casino match play and a light dinner featuring Cajun-style cuisine. There will be raffles and other Mardi-Gras-themed activities, plus a full no-host bar.

Lions Club hosts Masquerade Ball and Auction
The second annual Lions Masquerade Ball and Auction will be held Feb. 25 in Port Orchard.
The event sponsored by the Lions Clubs of Western Washington will begin at 7 p.m. in the Port Orchard Pavilion, 701 Bay St.
Tickets cost $25, and proceeds go to Project New Hope, an organization that provides family weekend retreats to help returning military veterans reconnect with their families and community.

Sunnyslope Assocation sets new meeting date
The Sunnyslope Improvement Association has changed its meeting night to the second Wednesday of each month at
7 p.m. Meetings are held at 5830 Old Clifton Road.
The group is working on plans for its annual May Sale, and would like to make it a communitywide garage sale.
